More artists confirmed for Love Supreme Jazz Festival 2014

We are excited to announce that De La Soul will be closing the Sunday night of Love Supreme 2014 with a set of hits from their 20+ year career performed as a full 10 piece live band! (check out footage of them with a full band here it’s going to be one hell of a show!)

Also joining the bill on Sunday is the platinum-selling queen of Irish rockabilly Imelda May, a seasoned festival performer who is gearing up to release her new album ‘Tribal’ later this month. On Saturday we welcome acid jazz legends Incognito celebrating their 35th Anniversary.

We’ve also announced the days on which each artist will be appearing so head to our line up page to see which day your favourite artist is performing.

We’re welcoming a whole host of fantastic vocalists to the festival: Nikki Yanofsky, who headlined the Montreal Jazz Festival when she was just 12 years old; James Tormé, the son of the legendary Mel Tormé and Jazz FM presenter & the MOBO nominated Natalie Williams who will be performing two sets over the weekend, one with her own band the other fronting the wildly popular Soul Family who will be taking their monthly residency at Ronnie Scott’s to the open fields of Glynde Place.

Alongside these artists we have a wealth of the most cutting edge names in modern jazz: the shamanistic Melt Yourself Down, the enigmatic Phronesis and the meditative Matthew Halsall. All this is bolstered by Jose James’ trumpeter (and Blue Note recording artist) Takuya Kuroda, who leads his own band for the first time in the UK, and one of jazz’s fastest rising stars Jaimeo Brown, who performs at Love Supreme following a triumphant show at London Jazz Festival last year.

Rounding off our 2nd wave of artists is some of the best new UK jazz: Reuben James Trio, Slowly Rolling Camera and Mammal Hands each represent something new and unique and we’re delighted to have them at Love Supreme 2014. We still have more artists to announce, including our Saturday night Bip Top headliner so stay tuned.

We’re also pleased to welcome back two of the highlights of last year’s festival. Brighton’s Jazz Rooms Soundsytem will wrap up the festival in style as they take to the Arena on the Sunday night and the popular Grand Marnier Hidden Charm bar will be making a welcome return to the festival site. Finally, we’re pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Matua to provide an additional stage at Love Supreme. We can’t say too much about it now but stay tuned for updates, suffice to say we’re planning something very special for this.
